CHADD 21st INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AD/HD

This annual conference will take place October 9-10, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Cooper-Kahn and Dr. Dietzel will present "Building Better Executive Skills: A Model for Teaching Parents How to Help their Children and Teens."

Those who work with families of children and adolescents with ADHD are often the first to introduce parents to a working knowledge of executive functioning. It is important to teach a systematic framework to guide parents as they work to help their children and teens with executive functioning. Further, professionals have a crucial role in helping families to understand and maintain the balance between doing too much and not offering enough support for youngsters with executive dysfunction. This presentation will bring together important findings from the accumulated body of research and clinical expertise on executive functioning to outline essential components in teaching parents about best practices for intervention.
