Education Consultation
Are you concerned or confused about your child's educational progress?
Does your child have academic, behavioral or social-emotional needs that require special handling in the school setting?
Do you need guidance in the best ways to collaborate with your child's school to obtain needed services?
Our psychologists can work with you to define your child needs and to develop a plan to meet those needs. We consult with families and schools regarding individualized planning for children, and we often attend formal or informal school meetings to actively participate in the process of creating interventions and accommodations that will allow your child to be more successful.
We specialize in the following types of problems that can have a strong impact on your child's school performance and self-esteem.
- Learning disabilities
- Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders
- Emotional and behavioral disorders
- Ogranizational skills deficits ("Executive Dysfunction")
Our consultations start with a parent meeting and a review of school records and evaluation reports. If we feel additional information is needed, we may contact your child's teachers, tutor, or other professionals involved (only with your permission, of course). If indicated, we may recommend a comprehensive assessment to get a current and thorough evaluation of your child's strengths and weaknesses.
Our psychologists are knowledgeable about special education law and laws governing services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
