Joyce Cooper-Kahn, Ph.D.

Photo of Joyce Cooper-KahnJoyce Cooper-Kahn, Ph.D., is Co-founder of PRA (1994) and the Director of Child-Development Resources. She earned her doctorate from Catholic University in 1986. She is a clinical child psychologist and has been in practice for over 20 years, specializing in helping children and their families to manage behavioral, emotional and academic challenges.

Working with parents, teachers and other community professionals as needed, her approach focuses on building competencies in children. Dr. Cooper-Kahn has particular expertise in attention disorders, learning disabilities and school consultation with an emphasis on interventions for executive functioning difficulties.

Together with a colleague, she is currently completing a book for parents and teachers on helping children with organizational difficulties, or executive dysfunction. Dr. Cooper-Kahn is also a well-known speaker in the community on topics related to child development.

Before entering full-time private practice in 1994, she was on the staff of The Kennedy-Krieger Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and was the clinical director of Bowie Therapeutic Nursery Center.
